About us

Who We Are:

Cheerful Hope Baptist Church is a small Southern Baptist Church located in Delco, North Carolina. Our church was founded in 1839 and we have a rich tradition of ministering to our community and sharing the love of Jesus.

What We Believe:

-
We believe the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God, without any error, the all-sufficient authority in matters of faith, doctrine, and Christian living.
-
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
-
We believe in the Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ, and that He is true God and man. He died on the cross for our sins. He rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father and is now our High Priest and Advocate.
-
We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and therefore lost. Only through regeneration by the work of the Holy Spirit can man’s salvation and spiritual life be obtained.
-
We believe that eternal salvation is the free gift of God, entirely apart from man’s works, and is possessed by any and all who have faith in and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
-
We believe in a regenerated church membership: that is persons old enough to understand their need for Jesus Christ, and, of their own free will, accepted Him as their personal Lord and Savior, accompanied by scriptural baptism.
-
We believe that baptism is by immersion and the Lord’s Supper is a memorial to His suffering and death on the cross. These are ordinances to be observed by the church in is present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means for man’s salvation.
-
We believe in the personal, bodily, imminent, and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ and that His Second Coming inspires believers for dynamic and zealous life and service for Him while waiting for His return.
-
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in heaven, and the everlasting punishment and separation from God of the unsaved in hell.
-
We believe in the autonomy of the local church. The church shall manage its own affairs and shall not be subject to any other religious body or organization.

Foundations:

What we strive for at Cheerful Hope Baptist Church:

To remain obedient to the Word of God by teaching and preaching the whole counsel of God and exhorting all to live a life of faithful obedience to Him and His Word.

As Christ has accepted those from all nations and people groups, we too desire to be a diverse body reflecting God’s grace to all, being unified with each other and Christ seeking to fulfill His purposes.

The Gospel must be applied to every area of our lives. Therefore, we must preach this Gospel unashamedly and without apology. The Gospel is not just the first step into the Christian life, but it is the means by which we are able to live a life of faith.

Jesus Christ is the substance of everything we do and teach. As His Church, we are to live in such a way that the world around us can see His beauty. It is our hope and prayer that they too would desire to be a part of what Christ is doing through us, His body.

As a Church we seek to uphold the foundational truths that have been graciously passed down throughout the history of the Church. We believe our knowledge of these truths must drive those who are the Church to lives of good works, loving service, and joyful sacrifice. In short right orthodoxy must breed proper orthopraxy.

**We pray that as a church we would be able to faithfully preach and live out all of these truths. We are painfully aware however that because of our sinfulness we will fail many times. We are indeed an imperfect people seeking to serve a perfect God. Therefore, grace must be at the heart of all we are doing as we seek to serve Christ as His Church, for it is only through His grace that we are His Church.
